Using the oyster shells in combination with traditional Moroccan plastering techniques called Tadelakt, a new material and finish can emerge, creating a brand new approach and an innovative new way of creating something out of waste materials. After natural oxidation and processing, the shells can be transformed into a powder which in turn can be used to form anything from a small piece of furniture to the plaster used for your brand new (and now) sustainable home.
The process begins by incinerating the seashells and transferring them into airtight jars, allowing them to turn into a fine powder which takes roughly 15-20 days.
Mixing the shell powder with water will give out a clay-like texture, which can be loaded into a 3D Printer (like this case) or be used in various different ways without any technologically advanced systems.
